Programme 3: Week 5 update

Nutrition:  - Turmeric, why eat Turmeric?

Turmeric contains curcumin, a substance with powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Curcumin:

  • Can suppress many molecules known to play major roles in inflammation.
  • Has powerful antioxidant effects.
  • Boosts levels of the brain hormone BDNF, and fights various degenerative processes in your brain.
  • Has beneficial effects on several factors known to play a role in  heart disease.
  • May help prevent and perhaps even treat cancer
  • Helps treat symptoms of arthritis

Turmeric Recipe – Paella

Mind – Breathing Exercise

Breathe exercise 2:4:3:1. We have progressed significantly with this exercise; allowing calmness to enter through the body by focusing on breathing technique.

Each 1 represents 5 seconds - i.e. 5 second breathe in – 5 second hold breath – 5 second breathe out – 5 second hold breath, then relax.

E.g. 2:4:3:1 would mean 10 second breathe in, 20 second hold breath, 15 second breathe out, 5 second hold.
