Programme 4: Week 3 update

Nutrition:  - Live-cultured yoghurt (LCY)

LCY:

  • Contains almost every nutrient that your body needs, and is especially high in calcium, B vitamins and trace minerals; it is also very high in protein which is helpful for appetite and weight control.
  • Contains probiotics - these boost your digestive health by reducing the symptoms of gastrointestinal disorders, such as bloating, diarrhea and constipation.
  • Benefits heart health by increasing "good" HDL cholesterol and reducing blood pressure, and regular consumption may reduce the risk of osteoporosis.

Caution:  Some people need to be cautious with their yoghurt intake, as it may cause adverse effects, especially in those with lactose intolerance or a milk allergy.

Mindfulness (P17 of the TSA Health Challenge Booklet)

Observation:  Choose a natural object (tree, flower, insect) from your immediate environment and observe for 1-2 minutes. Use all your senses and explore it as if it is the first time you have seen this object.

Body Scan:  Lie down in a quiet room where you won’t be disturbed and close your eyes. Carry out a fully body scan by isolating each body part then tensing for 5-10 seconds, as you tense breathe in, then totally relax the body part and breathe out at the same time feeling total relaxation in that part of the body.

Good Luck with Week 3!
